Effects of Primary Care Provider Exit on Cancer Stage at Diagnosis in Medicare
This paper examines whether disruptions in primary care continuity affect cancer detection among older adults with breast or colorectal cancer. Using linked cancer registry and Medicare claims data, I study how PCP exits relate to stage at diagnosis and pre-diagnosis use of screening and diagnostic services.
Hospital–PCP Integration and Cancer Care and Outcomes
This paper examines whether hospital integration of primary care physicians changes cancer referral patterns, spending, and survival. I use linked cancer registry and Medicare claims data to study whether integration affects where patients receive surgery and whether these changes translate into differences in care value.
The Impact of Pre-Medicare Insurance on Subsequent Medicare Utilization and Spending
This paper studies how healthcare use and spending change when adults become eligible for Medicare at age 65. I examine whether the effects differ depending on insurance coverage before Medicare, including uninsured status and private plan generosity.
The Effect of Medicare Transition on the Choice of Where to Receive Cancer Care
This paper examines whether Medicare eligibility at age 65 changes where patients receive cancer care. Using PA cancer registry data, we study whether Medicare eligibility affects treatment at accredited or specialized cancer centers and how access differs across insurance types.
